Because fireflies are awesome. I am referring to actual fireflies here, also known as lightning bugs, but things referring to the Owl City song may also sneak in now and then because, duh, the song refers to fireflies (and is also awesome), as well as some pictures that really aren't fireflies but kind of, you know, look like they are. It's slightly possible references to Firefly might also sneak in occasionally, because I'm that big a geek. We'll see.

flashing in a summer field against twilight sky-
dark. Drifting shifting sparkle flashes, ever-
changing patterns of writing in some
unknowable language of streaks and flashes,
constellations blinking on and off. Fireflies dance
below us, fireflies behind us, fireflies above us;
their silent mating calls a symphony of light. A
million flashes a minute, we are immersed in a
sea of flickering light.Just so, the immortals look out across the
universe, as stars and galaxies
flick into life
fade into dark.
My take on cover art for Chime by Franny Billingsley. Probably one of my favorite books I read last year.
